The English Department offers a mix of required and elective courses in writing, literature and the humanities.
English 101 and 102 are required for the Associate of Arts and the Associate of Science degree. American, English,
or World Literature survey classes and Introduction to Humanities 1 and 2 classes fulfill the Humanities Goal of the
General Education Core Courses, as do Film and Literature, Introduction to Literature, and Survey of World Mythology.
Elective courses students will find interesting include Introduction to Poetry, Introduction to Shakespeare,
and Creative Writing in Poetry, Fiction, and Nonfiction. No matter what your academic goal - graduation, transfer to
a four-year university, or enrichment - the English Department offers a class that will appeal to you.
